Hello there! I'm Bridget, an aspiring painter, and sculptor from New Jersey on a journey to get a job in a stop-motion studio to work on making background sets.
People often choose to avoid what’s uncomfortable or unfamiliar because of how it makes them feel, topics that are dark or too real to want to be involved with. The mediums I use play an important role in creating an escape from reality and expressing the themes that interest me. My artwork focuses on areas that evoke an emotion or a memory, trying to connect people to that vulnerability while also directly involving the viewer in a real situation.
My love of animals and my own interpretations of pain are my main inspirations. My work reflects a realistic and gestural style that relies on fast-drying mediums like acrylic or sculpture through wood and glue. It keeps my work feeling real and alive, requiring me to act confidently and rely on my skills. For example, my work “Uncertainty of Life” explores the painful and uncomfortable reality of life, ending in a peaceful, sad sense of uncertainty as a whole.
Overall, my work identifies these ideas by confronting emotions and experiences that people often choose to avoid. I encourage viewers to engage with discomfort and reflect on their own understanding of pain and uncertainty. Emotions hold value, offering a deeper understanding of oneself and the world around us. My intention is to create a connection to feel both honest and reflective. While also exploring different approaches to further strengthen the emotional connection and immersive quality of my work.
